We attended our ultrasound appointment two days ago on Jan 26th. It's official now - we're having a baby boy! We have a great shot of his wee-wee, so there should be no surprises come June. Dave's first comment when we left the doctor's office was "Did you see how BIG it was!?!"
It such an amazing experience to see him in the ultrasound video. You could see him open his mouth, stretch out his arms and just move around. We could also see such fine detail like his fingers, organs, spine and even his eyelashes! He measured out normal and his development appeared to be healthy. His heartbeat was strong and healthy at 152 beats per min. We have a 4 min video of the ultrasound that we've already watched over and over.
It is starting to feel so real now. We are so happy that we were able to find out the gender and see the little guy move around. I really think it has helped us bond with the child more and imagine ourselves as parents of a little boy and doing "boy stuff".
...and of course, we have started to seriously think about names. I have learned from my co-worker Pam that it's never to early to start seriously thinking about a name. She had her son much earlier than expected and he was "Baby Boy" for a little while until they finalized a name (they decided on Jared - and he is such a cutie!). We have some ideas in mind, which I will soon post - I promise!
