Dave and I attended our second appointment today, and we got to hear the heartbeat! It's a fast little heartbeat - a rate of 160 - which is on the higher end of the normal range. My doctor said that the old wives tale is that a fast heartbeat means you're having a girl. We will soon see if we prove this theory true! It is certainly comforting to hear the heartbeat, though. Since I'm 12.5 weeks now, the baby has hit the 2-inch mark (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.
My blood pressure and blood tests came back normal . As an added bonus, I weighed one pound less than before at the weigh-in, despite Thanksgiving and all of our holiday dinners. Yeay! I'm sure this downward trend will not continue, especially since my pants are already starting to feel snug. I saw my friend Jocelyn, who had a baby two months ago, over the weekend and she gave me some really cute maternity clothes to borrow. It's hard to believe that I will soon be wearing them!
